TRADER NOTICE – MOVEMENTS OF ANIMALS OR PRODUCTS OF ANIMAL ORIGIN USING THE UK LANDBRIDGE IN THE CASE OF A NO-DEAL BREXIT.

Context – Brexit

As the UK has voted to leave the EU, it will become a ‘Third Country’ (non-EU Member State) from the date of  withdrawal. From the date the United Kingdom exits the European Union, the movement of agri-food goods  from one Member State to another across Great Britain, will be subject to Customs transit procedures. In  addition animals and animal products crossing the UK landbridge will be subject to veterinary controls at the point of re-entry into the European Union.

Requirements

If you are the responsible person for moving animal and animal products across the UK landbridge in either  direction, you are required to comply with the conditions as laid down in EU legislation as follows:

 The animals and animal products must be moved in accordance with Customs transit procedure see  https://www.revenue.ie/en/customs-traders-and-agents/transit/index.aspx for further information  You must be registered on TRACES – to register for access to TRACES by accessing the application form at  https://www.agriculture.gov.ie/brexit/preparingforbrexit/registration/traces/ and email it to BrexitRegistration@agriculture.gov.ie

 You must complete and submit the relevant part of the Common Veterinary Entry Document (CVED) in  TRACES in advance of the consignment’s re-entry into the EU.

 Failure to submit the documents in a timely manner may result in the consignment being delayed.  Current intraCommunity rules continue to apply in relation to documentary and sealing requirements with the exception of bovine and ungulate animals for immediate slaughter, the transport vehicle must be sealed and the official certificates stamped at the exit point from the EU by the competent authority with the  wording ‘ONLY FOR TRANSIT BETWEEN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION VIA THE UK’

What you should do now

If the person responsible for the load has not got access to TRACES, he/she should for register for access to  TRACES by accessing the application form at TRACES and email it to BrexitRegistration@agriculture.gov.ie Queries in relation to movements of agri-food goods including movement of animals and animal products across
